Robert Maximilian de Gaynesford

Maximilian de Gaynesford (b. 1968 England) is currently Reader in Philosophy at the University of Reading. He was previously Fellow and Tutor in Philosophy at Lincoln College, Oxford (1997-2002), Humboldt Research Fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin (2003), and Associate Professor of Philosophy at the College of William and Mary (2002-2006).
He is the author of three books: I: The Meaning of the First Person Term (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 2006), Hilary Putnam (McGill-Queens University Press / Acumen, 2006) and John McDowell (Blackwell / Polity Press, 2004). He has also written a number of articles, mainly on the philosophy of logic, language and mind.
His research interests are in the Philosophy of Language, Logic and Mind; Wittgenstein; and 20th century history of philosophy. He also works on Samuel Beckett's writings and on the Philosophy of Film. He is currently writing a book on the theme of ending philosophy as it relates to early and late Wittgenstein.
