Robert Lang (born December 19, 1970) is a professional ice hockey player (a centre) in the NHL, playing for the Detroit Red Wings. He was born in Teplice, Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic.
He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1990. His best season to date was the 2000–2001 season, when he scored 80 points. Currently playing for the Detroit Red Wings, Lang has played the 2001–2002 season and part of the 2002–2003 season for the Washington Capitals. He has previously played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins as well. During the 2003–2004 season, he had led the NHL in scoring at the time of his trade from the Washington Capitals to the Detroit Red Wings, but shortly thereafter he was sidelined with a broken rib, and yielded the lead in scoring to eventual NHL MVP Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was named the top Czech player of the season.
Lang played on the Czech Republic's Olympic hockey team for three Olympics. The team won medals all three times: the 1992 Bronze Medal, the 1998 Gold Medal, and the 2006 Bronze Medal.
