Robert L. Barry is a career member of the United States Foreign Service and was the United States ambassador to Indonesia from 1992 to 1995; he also served as ambassador to Bulgaria. A member of Dartmouth College's Class of 1956, he was his class' 50th-year reunion honorary degree recipient, receiving a Doctor of Laws at the College's 236th Commencement Exercises on June 11, 2006.
