Robert John Cornell, O Praem (born December 16, 1919) is an American politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin, 1975-1979. Cornell was born in Gladstone, Michigan in Delta County, Michigan, , 1919; attended parochial schools in Green Bay, Wisconsin; B.A., St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wisconsin, 1941; M.A., Ph.D., The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., 1957; ordained a Roman Catholic priest, Norbertine Order, 1944; teacher of social sciences in parochial schools of Philadelphia, Pa., 1941-1947; professor of history and political science, St. Norbert College, 1947-1974, and 1979 to present; chairman, Eighth Congressional District Democratic Party of Wisconsin, 1969-1974; member, State Administrative Committee of Democratic Party of Wisconsin, 1969-1974; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and Ninety-fifth Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1979); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1978 to the Ninety-sixth Congress; is a resident of DePere, Wis.
