Robert James (actor)

Robert James (born Paisley, Scotland 28 March 1924 - died 31 July 2004) was a Scottish actor, who was best known for his television work.

He trained to be a lawyer, before being spotted by a professional director whilst doing amateur dramatics.

Credits included: The Avengers, Z Cars, Undermind, Out of the Unknown, Doctor Who (in the serials The Power of the Daleks and The Masque of Mandragora), Counterstrike, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, The Borderers, The Troubleshooters, The Befrienders, Doomwatch, Steptoe and Son, The Onedin Line, Sutherland's Law, The Mackinnons, Blake's 7, The Professionals, The Jewel in the Crown, Rumpole of the Bailey, Casualty, Taggart and Century Falls.

He was married to the actess Mona Bruce.

He died in 2004 from alzheimer's disease.
