Robert Dennison (US Navy officer)

Admiral Robert L. Dennison (April, 1901–1980) was an American naval officer and aide to President Harry Truman.
Dennison was born in Warren, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1923. He later received a doctorate in engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He held numerous commands in the U.S. Navy, including submarines, destroyers, and the U.S.S. Missouri. Truman twice sailed on the Missouri while Dennison commanded it. In the pivot of his career, he was the U.S. navy commander of the Atlantic forces.
While in charge of the Atlantic forces, he would be given the duty of blockading Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He would capture several merchant vessels and even Soviet submarines during this time.
