Robert Cullen (カレン ロバート Karen Robāto?, born June 7, 1985) is a Japanese professional footballer for Jubilo Iwata of the J. League, the top professional football league in Japan. Playing as a forward, Cullen made his debut as a professional on May 5, 2004, against Oita Trinita.
Cullen started training in the youth ranks at Kashiwa Reysol before eventually joining the team at Funabashi Municipal High School. After his graduation, he signed with Jubilo Iwata in 2004. Although mostly limited to substitute appearances and the occasional league cup start in his rookie year, big things are expected of Cullen as he matures and gains experience playing with such seasoned professionals as Masashi 'Gon' Nakayama and Toshiya Fujita.
Robert is known to his teammates and family as "Bobby". He is the son of a Northern Irish father and a Japanese mother. In 2005 he selected Japanese citizenship in order to be able to play for the Japanese national team. He was a member of the Japan under-20 team which played in Holland in 2005.
