[edit] Basketball Program

The school hosts a basketball program for students that replaces the regular P.E. course with an all-basketball program taught by Paul Eberhardt and teaches the fundamentals, tricks, and plays of the sport. Recently, the senior basketball team have made it to the 63rd Annual TELUS-BCHSBBA Boys Provincial Basketball Championships, held in the PNE Agrodome. It is one of the biggest events that has ever happened to the school. Akeem Pierre is currently one this team's top stars, and had been noted by the Team 1040.

On March 14, 2007, the Palmer Griffins were narrowly defeated, by one point, to the White Rock Christian Academy, eliminating them in the process.

[edit] Robotics Club

CADD teacher M. Clift hosts the Robotics Club, which specializes in creating combat robots (à la Robot Wars). Members compete against each other as a form of weekly practice, and they take part in various competitions, some as far as Seattle.

[edit] Soccer Academy

The school also hosts a district-wide Soccer Academy for student-athletes to obtain a high-level of soccer training while completing their high school education. Palmer students can also take this program as an alternative to the regular P.E. course.

[edit] Vandalism

Widespread vandalism has been found in the school's washrooms. The usual variety includes a swastika and a message telling the Chinese people to go back to China. It is suggested that these atrocities are the work of an individual or a small group. Recently, toilet rolls had been taken out and dropped in the toilet bowls. Then, on January 31, 2007, one of the boys' washrooms had to be closed down, as a result of a trash can being set on fire. A similar incident happened almost a year before. This unsettling problem is now the administration's top priority. One of the CADD classes, taught by M. Clift, is joining forces to design anti-racism/vandalism posters that will be posted around the school vicinity.
