Robert Atkinson is a professional footballer who currently plays as a defender for Barnsley.
Robert has come through the youth ranks with Barnsley , making his debut on the the 6 March 2004.
In the 2005/06 he had a six month loan spell with Scarborough playing 22 league games.
He was then loaned out in 2006/07 to Halifax Town. After some impressive performances, Robert was recalled to Barnsley following injuries to Bobby Hassell, Paul Reid and Antony Kay.
Atkinson played his first full game for Barnsley on 26th December 2006, in a 1-0 win over Burnley, picking up the man of the match award.
