[edit] Early Life

Born in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Mills attended Brentwood Secondary College. At the age of 17 Mills decided to pursue a career in pop music. He formed a band called "The Megamen" with two friends and soon developed a keen following on the Melbourne live music scene especially their sessions every Sunday at the Red Eagle Hotel at Albert Park. Rob Mills unsuccessfully auditioned for the second series of Popstars in 2001.

[edit] Currently

Mills travelled around Asia and Europe for most of 2006 and returned saying he was a 'changed man'. He blogged his travels on popular blogging site "BlogSpot". He already has plans for 2007 including public and private shows and gearing up to play the lead role in the Perth, Australia production of HAIR the musical in May. He is set to take on popular site YouTube by filming himself on location and posting his adventures. Mills is hoping to get on with 'real shows' soon.

[edit] Australian Idol

His audition for the first series of Australian Idol was successful and he made the top five. He performed on "Rise Up" the #1 Australian single performed by all the Australian Idol finalists in 2003. Mills performed the song "Dirty Girl" on the double platinum album Australian Idol: Final 12 soundtrack released in October 2003.

[edit] Post-Idol

Mills confessed on the tv show Spicks and Specks that he had a brief but highly publicised tryst with celebrity heiress Paris Hilton at the Melbourne Cup of 2003. He later made fun of the tryst by singing 'I Love Paris' (originally by Frank Sinatra) to close off the show. He signed a contract with BMG in 2004. His first album Up All Night was released in Australia on June 14, 2004 and debuted in the top 40. The first single from the album "Ms Vanity" was released on May 31 in Australia and debuted at #6 in the Australian singles charts.

During Triple M's Tsunami Fundraiser, where people pledged money to hear their favourite song played, Mills rang up and requested his own song. There was much outrage at Mills and he was the butt of many jokes, especially as his album was selling for as little as 40 cents at the same time.

Mills' music career did not enjoy strong success. He hosted a television show "Stooged" on Channel 10, a hidden-camera show where contestants must prove to their closest friends they have done important and extreme things they have not. The show premiered on July 28, 2005, but was promptly cancelled. He is currently aiming towards musical theatre. Mills' recently appeared in the stage musical Grease as Johnny Casino and is also currently penning new songs for an independent release.
