Rob McElwee

Rob McElwee is BBC Weather's longest-serving weather forecaster. He presents regular forecasts on BBC News 24, BBC Radio 4 and BBC One.

Rob joined the Met Office in 1982 working as a weather observer, spending most of the next eight years observing the weather on the Army Air Corps base of Netheravon on the Salisbury Plain. Following this he trained as a forecaster and worked at airbases in East Anglia.

He joined the team at the BBC Weather Centre in May 1991, making his first appearance in July of that year. He is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society.
