English: Robert Clifton Weaver ( December 29, 1907July 17, 1997) served as the first United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (also known as HUD) from 1966 to 1968. Weaver was born in Washington, on December 29, 1907, and received a doctorate from Harvard University in 1934. He married Ella V. Haith in 1935, and they had one child. He is notable as being the first ever African American cabinet official.
