Roar is a wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. The coaster has twenty two crossovers with a 200 foot roofed tunnel. Roar is a near clone of Roar at Six Flags America however it features a different approach to the lift and an added bunny hill before the final break run. Discovery Kingdom's Roar also was designed to be smaller with tighter turns than its big brother. The change in design allows for higher lateral g's and increased sensation of speed.
Roar is able to handle the more compact layout due to its trains. Roar was the first coaster to use Millennium Flyer trains, built by GCI and modeled after classic Traver Era "Century Flyer" trains built by Prior and Church.
[edit] Trivia
- The ride is commonly known as "Roar West" to roller coaster enthusiasts. "Roar East" resides at Six Flags America. Both coasters were manufactured by Great Coasters International.
