[edit] Science Fair

Every first year student at the Governor's school is required to take Fundamentals of Research as their elective. In this class, the students meet once a week to research and prepare a research project. Immediately after Christmas break, the students spend all of January only in Fundamentals of Research. During this period, they finalize and perform their experiments and analyze the results. They also prepare their presentation at the project forum. The science fair is the largest in Western Virginia and every student at the school participates. Also, for at the past 10 years, the two student representatives from the Western Virginia Science Fair chosen to go to the International Science and Engineering Fair have been Roanoke Valley Governor's School students.
