RMS Georgic (1932)

Built at Harland and Wolff shipyard in belfast the Georgic was the last ship built for the White Star Line before it's merger with Cunard, she was the sister ship of the Britannic.

The Georgic was built by Harland and Wolff for the White Star Line in 1932, she was built for the Liverpool New York route. In 1933 she replaced the aging RMS Olympic on the Southampton New York route.

With the outbreak of the Second World War the Georgic was requisitioned for troop ship duties, on July 7th 1941 the georgic was bombed when docked in Port Tewfik, it was decided that it was worth the trouble to slavage her, her was duties continued until 1948, when she was returned to Cunard-White Star and began a the immigrant service between Liverpool Australia and New Zealand.

She was retired in 1954 and scrapped in 1955 by the Shipbreaking Industries Ltd at Faslane.
