From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The RLIF Golden Boot Awards are a series of rugby league awards handed out on an annual basis for a series of achievements in rugby league. The main award is the Golden Boot Award which is handed out to the player that is voted by his peers and decided to be the best player in the world at that current time. The awarded was founded in 1985 by the Rugby League International Federation who still governs it.
Besides the main award the several other awards that are annually handed out are International Newcomer of the Year, Developing Nations Player of the Year, International Coach of the Year, International Back of the Year, International Forward of the Year and International Referee of the Year.
The award's youngest winner is Andrew Johns, who won at the age of 25 in 1999, he won it again in 2001 and along with Darren Lockyer are the only players to have won the award twice. The oldest winner of the award is Mal Meninga, whom won in 1990 at the age of 30.
