The RiverCritter is a retired firefighter beginning a second career. Theology is a passion of mine that once took the form of an ambition to the pastorate, but no longer. Though as devoted as ever to Christ and His Church, not a remnant of my old dream of being a pastor remains; having been fully driven from me by family, church, and seminary.
Lesser passions include clogging (a form of percussive dance), camping, music, and history.
Christianity has always been the center and focus of my life. My journey since childhood conversion has been from Calvinist to "Charismaniac" and back again. The middle part of that journey, though providencially ordianed by God, was nonetheless crazy and damaging. Recovery for others caught in the snare of Charismaticism /Pentecostalism has become another great passion of mine, one in which I have invested much time and research. Support for those who find it as hollow and superficial as I did, and who find themselves longing for purity and simplicity in their Christian experience can find compassionate help from ExCharisma.
