Rivethead

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Rivethead is a person who listens to and takes part in the industrial music subculture. Industrial music is such a small scene that's why it often goes hand in hand with the goth scene. The affiliation of goth and industrial music has caused some mixed feelings on both sides of the spectrum, the goths sometimes feeling that industrial music wrecked the goth scene by taking away the more romantic or melancholy atmosphere of the culture, and rivetheads being offended that they are perceived as goths from time to time.

[edit] Music

Rivetheads predominantly listen to artists including, but not limited to: Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Coil, Laibach, SPK, Front 242 and countless others.

What primarily separates them from the gothic subculture is their general aggressive overtone.

[edit] Fashion

Both industrial music and the dress style of rivetheads are inspired by factory or military aesthetic as it is a perfect combination of fashion and function. Dress typically consists of combat boots, boots with many buckles or straps, knee high military dress boots, steel toe Dr. Martins, camouflage or cargo pants, partially shaved (undercut) dreadlocked, coloured or bald heads, and band t-shirts. Primary colors are black, grey and olive green.
