Riverwalk Marketplace is a mall located in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana. The mall is located along the Mississippi River waterfront stretching from the base of Canal Street upriver to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. It is adjacent to the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel.
On the afternoon of December 14, 1996, the mall was struck by the Bright Field freightliner, causing extensive damage. Miraculously, there were no fatalities. [1]
The Riverwalk closed after Hurricane Katrina due to extensive wind and looting damage. It has since reopened.
