Riverside High School (New Jersey)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Riverside High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Riverside Township in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Riverside School District.

Students from Delanco Township attend Riverside High School as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Delanco Township School District.

[edit] Athletics

Riverside High School competes in the Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL), sports association under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). The league consists of nineteen public and parochial high schools covering Burlington County, Mercer County and Ocean County in central New Jersey. Before there was a Delran Township High School, students from that township attended Riverside High School, making it a much more competitive school in athletics against schools like Moorestown, Rancocas Valley, Lenape, and Shawnee. In fact, when Riverside took the field against Rancocas Valley in the late 1960's and early 1970's, there were some "knockdown-dragouts" that were very close both in football and baseball. Nowadays, Riverside doesn't have the student population to compete against larger schools and must play the small group I and sometimes group II schools inside and outside the county. Unfortunately, because of their size they'll find it hard to compete in football as their previous records have indicated. School mascot: Ram. Colors: Chicago maroon and white.
