River Poulter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The River Poulter is a tributary river of the River Idle in Nottinghamshire. It has been dammed in order to create several ornamental lakes for the Dukeries estates of Welbeck Abbey and Clumber House now the National Trust property of Clumber Park. The lakes are Shrubbery Lake, Great Lake, Carburton Forge Lake, and Carburton Dam, on the Welbeck estate; and Clumber Lake, part of Clumber Park. The river then flows eastwards past the village of Elkesley and joins the River Idle just outside the village and close to the A1 road.
