River Mellte

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Afon Mellte or the River Mellte is a river in Wales. It is formed by the conjunction of the Afon Llia and the river Dringarth. It then flows south through the village of Ystradfellte to join the River Neath. The cave Porth yr Ogof is located on this river. "Mellte" is the Welsh word for "lightning". The river is named Mellte after its tendency to raise rapidly and violently after heavy rainfall.
