River 94.9
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
River 94.9 is a commercial radio station based in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The station, which broadcasts to South-East Queensland, opened in December 2001 in the old studios of Star 106.9, Their playlist originally included pop music, rock and dance with specialty programming including 'Wild Nights', licenced from Wild FM. In late 2003, after some small changes in administration, most specialty programmes disappeared. Still claiming to be 'the hit music station', they began playing less pop music and more hit music from the 1980s and early 1990s. They now position themselves in the competitive market as playing "The Biggest Variety of Hits from the 70's, 80's, 90's and whatever" with a no repeat workday.
The station is owned by Rural Press & Bundaberg Broadcasters, forming part of the Star Broadcasting Network which also currently has radio stations in Bundaberg and South Australia.
As of 2007, the shifts included Waynee "Poo" Roberts (former 4IP DJ) (breakfast), Ashleigh Mac (morning) and Jay Goldman & Kane Reiken (drive). River949 is the first station in Australia to have "now playing" in the PS of their RDS (radio data system).
