Risør Festival of Chamber Music

The Risør Festival of Chamber Music, also known as 'Risør Kammermusikkfest', takes place every summer in the small Norwegian town of Risør, "the white town on the coast of the Skagerrak." The festival was founded in 1991 and it's current artistic directors are pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and violist Lars Anders Tomter. Past artists have included Maxim Vengerov, Gidon Kremer, Joshua Bell, Christian Tetzlaff, Heinrich Schiff, Steven Isserlis, Lars Vogt, Alexei Lubimov, and more. The festival focuses on chamber music, and the programs feature a wide variety of works; in addition to Norwegian works, the repertoire includes 18th, 19th and 20th century music, "both familiar and unfamiliar."
