Did anyone ever buy this album? Is it anything more tha a vanityy listing? If this is an important album, we should keep it, but I can't find any sign of it being anything but a home-made CD by an unknown Canadian punk band.Arthur Ellis 15:02, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please Keep

IMO, Arthur Ellis wants this page deleted because there is a reference to Warren Kinsella. Please refer to Arthur Ellis's user history and note the Warren Kinsella connection. I do not believe this a Warren Kinsella vanity entry. Pete Peters 15:20, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't even know how this page meets the criteria of being deleted? And second, placing a tag doesn't mean it has been submitted for deletion. I am going to remove tag , until a formal request has been made. Pete Peters 15:37, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh never mind, tag stays. Until admin looks at it. Pete Peters 15:38, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Please do not make this personal. If you believe this entry should stay, please read the tag and explain why. I can't find any sign of it being anything but a home-made CD by an unknown Canadian punk band.Arthur Ellis 15:02, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

The album 'Ripple Rock' is sold and distributed by Mint Records in Canada and by Alternative Tentacles in the United States. The Album is not 'home-made' but is professionally recorded, printed, and pressed. The Evaporators are the main musical project of Nardwuar, who is a nationally known Canadian media personality, and has members from other well known Canadian bands. Should stay then. I will definitely defer to Xinit's expertise.Arthur Ellis 16:35, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

I noticed the tagging for deletion through the tagging of the Evaporators article and your edit history, so I responded before looking at the article; it's in serious need of organisation - doesn't look like an album page should at all. I'll fix that. Your tagging it for deletion will result in some good at the end of the day, so thanks. -- Xinit 16:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Track content removed from article

I moved the following information from the article, as it needs to be re-written if it's to be included...

==Tracks== ===Addicted to Cheese=== Although many see it as a reference to Cheese Metal, Nardwuar claims (both in the song and elsewhere) that "Addicted to Cheese" really is about the dairy product. This song features Mike Ledwidge on piano and directly references the musical groups L.A. Guns and Enuff Z'nuff. In the liner notes, this song is referred to as "I Gotta Disease, I'm Addicted to Cheese." ===I Feel Like a Fat Frustrated Fuck=== I Feel Like a Fat Frustrated Fuck is one of the few songs on this album that appears to have no ulterior motive, and Nardwuar uses it in the liner notes as a segway between Addicted to Cheese and Ripple Rock. Additional backup vocals are featured on this song, but are not directly credited. It is very likely that they are provided by Megan Barnes, or Lisa Marr, or both. ===Ripple Rock=== Ripple Rock is about the April 5, 1958 destruction of Ripple Rock near Campbell River, BC. ===Get off the Treadmill=== Like I Feel Like a Fat Frustrated Fuck, Get off the Treadmill appears to feature no discernible meaning past being a song about waiting for "Mr. Gym Rat" to "get off the treadmill." ===(I've Got) Icicles on my Testicles=== Following the pattern set by Get off the Treadmill, (I've Got) Icicles on my Testicles has no readily recognizable alternate interpretation, is hardly mentioned in the otherwise extensive liner notes, and features no additional musicians. In the liner notes, the title is written without parentheses. ===Nard Nest=== The Nard Nest is the name of Nardwuar's message board, which was started in 2001, and can currently be located at http://www.nardwuar.com/nardnest. This song heavily features backup vocals from Megan or Lisa or both. Mike Ledwidge also contributes, playing organ. ===I.D.N.M.F.T.T.M.W.M.F.A.=== I.D.N.M.F.T.T.M.W.M.F.A. stands for "I don't need my friends to tell me who my friends are," and features that phrase numerous times, along with several others. Compared to the live version of this song, the recording is extremely short, cut down to just over two minutes long. In the liner notes this song is titled "I Don't Need My Friends to Tell Me Who My Friends Are." ===Salad Bar=== Initially, Salad Bar seems to be another song that needs no explanation. However, the song may have been inspired by Henry Rollins' book, Get in the Van. The liner notes explicitly state, "And if I want to pig out at a Salad Bar, as Henry Rollins writes about in Get in the Van, I will." ===Half-Empty Halls=== Half-Empty Halls is a song about bands having to play for half-empty halls, as many once notable bands have later resorted to. This song has been made into a music video, which is available to download for free at Mint Records' website. ===Cardboard Brains=== Cardboard Brains is a song about life as a cardboard box, but is actually a tribute to the Toronto band of the same name. The CD's liner notes feature a lengthy history of the group, written by Marc Coulavin. Rodney Graham makes his only appearance on this album playing organ on this track. ===Gerda Munsinger=== Gerda Munsinger was the 1960's Canadian version of Monica Lewinsky, according to Nardwuar. While the song's chorus focueses primarily on spelling her name, the verses offer tidbits of information on her, as well as a reference to Canadian satirists, The Brothers-In-Law, who wrote the song Gerda about her. ===Shittin' Party=== ===Barney Rubble is my Double=== Barney Rubble is my Double was originally written by Calgary punk Warren Kinsella of The Hot Nasties. The song is very simple and repetitive, with various references to The Flintstones. ===Nardwuar vs. Rahzel=== Rahzel of The Roots teaches Nardwuar to "scratch" his name in an excerpt from an interview. ===I Quit School=== Nardwuar discuesses his reasons for dropping out in a cover of Pointedb Sticks. ===Are You Mad at Me?=== ===I Say That on Purpose to Bug You=== Mike Ledwidge once again lends his organ skills in this slower song. In the liner notes this song is called "I Say that on Purpose to Bug You (But not Intentionally)" ===Nardwuar vs. Snoop Doggy Dogg=== Nardwuar interviews Snoop Doggy Dog and has records stolen from him.
