Ringsted municipality

Ringsted municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in West Zealand County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 295 km², and has a total population of 30.830 (2005). Its mayor is Niels-Ulrik Hermansen, a member of Venstre
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Ringsted.
Neighboring municipalities are Skovbo to the east, Hvalsø and Tølløse to the north, Stenlille and Sorø to the west, and Suså and Haslev to the south.
Ringsted municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
