Ringo.com is a free web application for online photo sharing. You can send your photos to friends and get theirs in your email. You can also post your photos publically and browse other public photos, tag your photos, and share details such as birthdays and addresses with your friends. Users can opt to automatically receive notices when their friends upload new photos or update their contact information. Ringo has recently added online video sharing to their features, powered by VideoEgg

Ringo provides a screensaver which shows your friends' photos in a screensaver on your computer, automatically updating with the most recent photos. It also has an uploader which lets you upload batches of photos from your hard drive to Ringo.

Ringo has recently added some new features like e-cards and photo printing, which allows you to purchase high quality prints of your photos, as well as products like photobooks and calendars.

Like other social web sites such as Friendster, Ringo takes a controversial approach in its methods of allowing users to invite their friends to the site. In addition to the standard method of allowing the user to type in the email addresses of friends they'd like to invite, Ringo can retrieve a user's contacts, provided the address book is on one of the major webmail services. (This is something that not all users are comfortable with. Yahoo for example recommends never entering your Yahoo login details on a webpage outside of the Yahoo network [1].)
