I. You can't defame the dead in Australia. 2. Truth and public interest now constitute a defence anyway. 3. I was a member of the Queensland press gallery for part of the Joh years. After I left Queensland, I interviewed Joh repeatedly either on his silent number in the Executive Building or at Bethany. Joh was given to both porkies and wild claims. EG; He once told me (on tape) that the ALP were linked to the "African National Council [sic]" who had been in Queensland buying tyres for necklacing! 4. Hundreds of Queenslanders can testify to being bashed by police during the civil liberties, anti vietnam war and street march demonstrations. Many of them now work as barristers, professors, journalists and very senior public servants. 5. This sanitising of history confirms my prejudices about the Wiki as a source of information. I wonder if Adolph Hitler had a wiki entry in 1933, whether he would have been described as a kindly vegetarian who liked dogs!

Oh yes I forgot. Wayne Goss' government revealed I was one of the many with a Special branch file. Maybe that's why I got a police tail after I questioned Terry Lewis' (subsequently a convicted felon) links with organised crime.

History is most defintely not bunk!

I bow to your greater research. However I note that the ABC, which of course cannot refer to sponsor names, continues to refer to the stadium as Lang Park, and that as a Brisbane resident myself I hear many peers still refer to Lang Park. Other stadia such as Optus Oval and Skilled Stadium maintain their former names - Princes Park and Kardinia Park are now said to refer to the land on which the stadia are situated. But if the name Lang Park is now officially gone for good then fair enough.

I noticed that you moved Toowong, Queensland to Toowong and had started changing the wikilinks from other pages. I made an inquiry at WP:AWNB and was in the middle of writing you a message but had an edit conflict when AYArkos was writing to you. I've noticed that somebody else has started reverting your edits. I just thought I would post this message as a courtesy in case you were still making changes to other articles to point out that the article will move back to Toowong, Queensland and that the otehr edits will probably change back too. Hi Adz

I was not aware of the standard, but even now that I am aware of it I question why that is our standard. Considering the majority of other nationalities (excepting the US which is still debating the standard) only place the state/country if required for disambiguation.

I am not willing to follow this further other than to say my vote is for the place name alone without the state mentioned afterwards unless there is a need based on disambiguation. Rimmeraj 02:13, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

G'Day, I have to say that I've wondered it too. I spent some time working on articles about locations in the ACT and having to type out Australian Capital Territory after each place name is a real pain, but apparently it was decided by concensus, so I'm just going along with it. -- Adz 02:22, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

For the record, the US isn't still debating the standard, and hasn't for a long time. Moreover, South Africa implemented the same naming convention earlier this year, and we're the main three countries that have gotten to the point of trying to cover every suburb and locality. While it means having to type slightly more in order to link to other pages, it fixed a serious problem we had with links pointing all over the place and articles being created at multiple titles. It has made things much simpler now that all the articles use the same naming format and can be redirected to from every other possibility. Ambi 12:15, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the comment on the talk page about the History text. I noticed that some of the text about the Library comes from another website too. If I get time, I'll try to rewrite it over the weekend. You really have to be careful about borrowing text verbatim. If for no other reason, somebody in future will just come along and delete it and all the info will be gone. It's better to summarise it and provide a link. You might want to take a look at Wikipedia:Copyrights, paricularly Contributors' rights and obligations and Wikipedia:Copyright problems. The article is looking good though. A few suggestions based on my experiences:

If you're trying to get every suburb in Brisbane with a reasonable article, something like Toowong is probably a bit high a target to reasonably aim for - it takes a lot of very local knowledge and a lot of time to write something like that. Something along the lines of Phillip, Australian Capital Territory allows for a reasonable, if basic, coverage of the suburb, while also being able to be written fairly quickly - that's how we were able to cover the whole city of Canberra so fast without resorting to substubs.

Secondly, while Toowong is detailed, I think it could do with a bit of work if it is to be used as an ultimate goal. The landmarks section is very long and very list-like, and its contents aren't very integrated. Demographics, politics and geography sections would improve the article. It might be an idea to look to Australia's only featured suburb article, Waterfall Gully, South Australia as an example - it does all of these really well (especially the landmarks/attractions section, which is difficult to cover in a way suitable for an encyclopedia). I think both of you are right. I don't really like the distance from city thing but it's redundant with the category, so long as all suburbs are in the category, and all have pages. Hi Rimmeraj, you are correct that by wiktionary's definition "Green Bridge" is in no way a colloquial term. I was using "colloquially" as a synonym for "commonly", the internet does not back this definition and nor do real dictionaries. I never considered the possibility that I did not know the correct meaning of colloquial.

I wasn't sure why you removed "colloquially" in the intro so I was unsure of what edit summary to put in, sometimes no edit summary is the most informative edit summary, or something, I just made that up then. I also thought that it was superfluos to say "before official naming" after "originally known as" just to fill up the rest of the edit summary. Grumpyyoungman01 20:37, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

It does not yet, but all articles start small. I had the choice of deleting the information from the original page or moving to a new. The info on the original page was not relevant to that article. Rimmeraj 01:14, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
I conducted some research a while back, and found that less than 20% of school articles had been significantly edited even after a year from creation. Really bad stubs remained for the most part really bad stubs. I would very much disagree with you that "all articles begin small". I regularly do New Pages patrol, and a large percentage of articles begin as fairly lengthy (in excess of 1K bytes) submissions. I've been working with Wikipedia for three years, and it is not often I see an article progress much beyond where it starts. Not always, of course - I've added significantly to articles myself - but as a general rule of thumb, articles tend not to improve a lot unless they address a subject familiar to a number of people. If this article is to serve Wikipedia well, much more information, and particularly information which confirms the notability of the school, needs to be added. Otherwise, deletion is a real possibility. Far better to leave it in the Toowoomba article, where at least a mention of the school is retained. Denni talk 01:30, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note on the Talk:Tulsa, Oklahoma page regarding the re-addition of the Tallest buildings list. Reviewing the edit pattern at Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mobile, Alabama, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Brisbane, it appears the anonymous editor in question has used the following IP's:

Reverse DNS lookup of all of these addresses shows that they are in the PPP address pool used by SBC Internet Services. As such, I fear we cannot request a block to stop this persistent vandal. --Kralizec! (talk) 22:20, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi. When I was using Google Earth there is a wikipedia icon with the article relating to Indooroopilly situated East of Coopooroo and South of Bulimba, i.e. about Carina! It is not even on the correct side of the river. That is what I was trying to have moved. My apologies for breaking the previous link. -Fermion 07:29, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

He once told me (on tape) that the Queensland ALP was associated with the "African National Council sic" who had been in Australia buying tyres for necklacing. 4. I interviewed Joh many times for national broadcast. He often seemed inarticulate but he was very intelligent. Indeed when I broke the news to him about Lionel Murphy's terminal cancer, he replied quickly, "pursue him to the end!" 5. Hundreds of Queenslanders can testify to being bashed by police during demondtrations . Calling them 'violent protests" is a weasel word, which avoids nominting the source of violence. 6. The role of the foreman in Joh's trial is well known and subject to at least one documentary.
