Dick Kimmel (born Richard Owen Kimmel, February 21, 1947, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American musician, songwriter, recording artist, writer, and wildlife biologist. Kimmel has been performing music since the late 1950's. He is a vocalist and plays 5-string banjo, mandolin, and guitar and has toured throughout North America and Europe. Kimmel has made more than 2-dozen recordings, most catalogued as bluegrass and old-time stringband music. Many of his recordings include songs and instrumentals that he has written. He has written articles, music tablatures, and reviews for magazines in the USA, Europe, and Asia.

Dick Kimmel is also a wildlife research biologist and has published manuscripts about various bird species. Most of his career has been with Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), where he is a wildlife research supervisor. He earned a Ph.D. in wildlife management (West Virginia University, 1982), M.A. in animal behavior (West Virginia University, 1972), and B.S. in biology (Earlham College, 1969). He has served as an Adjunct/Consulting Professor for St. Cloud State University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, University of Minnesota, and South Dakota State University.
