Rigpig

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rigpig describes an oilfield worker, most commonly in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Rigpigs are usually graduated students, often with trades certificates who come to the oilfields for quick cash. Due to the economic boom in Alberta, this practice is becoming more and more popular, to a point where the vacancy rate has dropped below 1%[citation needed]. These workers can make upwards of $100 000 dollars per year.
