Riesen is a chocolate and toffee confectionery produced and distributed by August Storck KG, a German confectionery that also produces Werther's Original. The candy is individually wrapped and usually sold in small bags. It consists of small, rectangular chunks of toffee covered in semisweet dark chocolate, and is extremely chewy.

1930's: while small corner shops in Germany still sell loose candy out of big jars, Storck introduces the first wrapped and branded caramel - the "Storck 1 Pfennig RIESEN“. It quickly becomes a popular candy due to its delicious caramel taste and exceptional “chewiness”. Late 1940's: the “1 Pfennig RIESEN" evolves into the “2 Pfennig RIESEN" and later into "Storck RIESEN". It is available in several different flavors, including chocolate-caramel. More and more consumers look for delicious products that offer a long-lasting taste experience. "RIESEN" responds to this trend: In the late 1980's, this chocolate caramel is covered with rich, dark chocolate. The "Storck Chocolate RIESEN" is born and becomes available as individually wrapped pieces, sold in bags. In the early 1990's, the RIESEN brand is successfully expanded internationally. Today, "RIESEN" is well established in the most important European and North American markets, such as Germany, Scandinavia, the USA and Canada.
