Ridester is an online road trip marketplace where people can offer or find intercity rides within a feedback-rated community. Unveiled in August of 2006, the service uses route matching technology to connect riders with drivers who are travelling along similar routes.

Ridester also provides an escrow service to simplify and secure the payment to drivers by riders. Ridester's marketplace claims a lower travel cost than bus carrier Greyhound lines and train carrier Amtrak by enabling riders to defray drivers' travel costs rather than purchasing a ticket for a commercial carrier.
