[edit] Robert Raikes; Robert Raikes the Elder
I see you've been editing in the family of Robert Raikes quite a bit lately. Please be aware that Wikipedia is a encyclopedia, not a genealogical site. See Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a directory, point 2 "Genealogical entries" for a more full explanation. See m:Wikipeople for a proposed genealogical/biographical dictionary project, and Wikitree for a project that aims to be the family tree of the human race. Accordingly, genealogical material should not be added to articles. There is nothing wrong with using your genealogical researches to determine which individuals were notable (the standard is WP:BIO) and create articles about the notable people. But those articles should neither be family trees nor contain family trees. GRBerry 10:42, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Further to GRBerry's comment above, I noticed that you reverted my rewrite of Robert Raikes the Elder. I have counter-reverted, because I believe that the article should be rewitten. The article as you left it was very fractured, contained a lot of irrelevant material about the subject's extended family and bore a cleanup tag from another editor.
- Please reconsider before you revert my edit again. By all means, please include relevant, sourced facts which my rewrite may have removed. I don't want to get into a dispute, but the article does need work. - mholland 20:39, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
