[edit] Myst

Thanks for the suggestion. Which do you think I should try first -- "Uru," IV or the I-III compilation? Would I be missing anything by playing the games out of order? Thanks -- Mwalcoff 22:15, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Definitely start with Myst itself, i.e. Myst I. This has the simplest (but still not easy) puzzles and is the best way to ease yourself into the Myst universe. There is a story running through the five main games, i.e. Myst (I), Riven (II), Exile (III), Revelation (IV) and End of Ages (V). You can follow it if you wish, but it's pretty complicated and not essential to playing the games, so you probably can do them out of sequence. However, I would still suggest you tackle Riven after Myst. It's probably the most difficult of them all in terms of the puzzles, so if you can solve Riven you can solve any of them!
I don't know much about Uru because it's outside the main run of games and I've never played it. It was originally intended to be an online game I think, but it never quite took off in that way. I would leave it for now and go for I-V instead.
Hope that helps. Good luck and let me know how you get on. --Richardrj 05:08, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Hammill albums

I fixed the typos on Peter Hammill albums. My bad. Mattbrundage 15:19, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bands in multiple music genres

copied from my talk page... Yes, it would be appropriate. Many bands are listed as being in multiple genres, for example, Category:Beck albums (alternative rock and folk) or Category:The Beatles albums (rock and pop). I've seen some albums categories with as many as four music genres. Mattbrundage 12:58, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Max Reger conundrum

No, I don't have the answer, sorry Richardrj. I was wondering if you had solved the conundrum in the meantime. Cheers JackofOz 03:07, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Myst again

Not yet. I know I said I wasn't interested in a mindless shooting game, but I liked the demo of Max Payne so much I bought it and actually did enjoy it, despite my reservations about all the blood and gore. I also bought Balder's Gate and Age of Empires, but I haven't begun playing those yet. I probably should have bought Myst... -- Mwalcoff 22:39, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 'Headquarters'

It's me again on the "headquarters" query. Pls. also confirm to me that headquarters is always a plural noun. My boss says so. I need an authority to tell me that. thank you very much--202.4.4.24 11:39, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sex on the Reference desk

Hey Richardrj, I am sorry if I seemed abrupt or unnecessarily mysterious with that post. I was being a bit defensive because in the past when sex has come up it's been suggested or intimated that I'm a prude or a tightass because of my responses, and I am so not (read to the bottom of my userpage and you'll see). I actually regret even posting to that thread at all, but I really do have concerns about that user, although she does make some good edits. Anyways, I didn't miss what you said about transit etiquette, and thank you for saying it. I hope I haven't offended you, because that definitely wasn't my intention. Anchoress 09:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

No worries Anchoress, and no offence taken. Actually I had already taken a peek at your userpage, and had taken good note of that part at the bottom, so I definitely didn't have you down as a prude (your interesting comments on sex workers back you up on this, as well). That's partly why I made this comment, which to my disappointment you didn't respond to :-) Go well, --Richardrj 09:34, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh lol I saw that comment but I didn't really know what to say. I meant other people's stockings, of course, I didn't know if you were teasing me or if you actually thought I wore stockings while backpacking. But thank you very very much for the comments, and I should try not to be so defensive. :-) Cheers. Anchoress 09:45, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
I actually thought you wore them while backpacking. And it was such a nice image, so far removed from the stereotypical image of the backpacker as a bedraggled, unkempt hippy with a Lonely Planet sticking out of their pocket. Damn, it's gone now :-) --Richardrj 09:59, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, sorry. :-) But, despite the lack of stockings, I wasn't unkempt. And I brought stockings, I just didn't wear them on travel days. :-) Anchoress 10:18, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Hey, maybe it's me who's the prude - I only just got the joke in your heading for this section. Tee hee. --Richardrj 12:37, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that was funny, huh? Anchoress 14:03, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Looks fine now except Abby Lee and Zoe Margolis, which I've pointed back there as well - David Gerard 15:43, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Many thanks for helping fend off the vandals while Gregorian chant was on the main page. I wasn't prepared for the level of vandalism. It's heartening to know how efficient and diligent you WP admins and editors are to revert it! Peirigill 07:09, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Aerosol Grey Machine

Hey Richard, nice to see someone editing my horrible aerosol grey machine article, however, are you sure it was Hammill and not Kirtley who composed the track "afterwards"? All sources I found (through google, I don't own a copy of the CD) state it is Kirtley. Good job though on the article.

Well, sites that say Kirtley composed it; http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:3v841v7jzzha (that's where I originally took it from ;) )
http://koreanrock.com/wiki.pl?action=edit&id=VanDerGraafGenerator (it's korean but the songs are in English ofc)
http://www.metavox.co.kr/shop/goodalign/good_detail.php?goodcd=1140085928 (also Korean, google gives many sites :P)
There's some more sites, but I guess it isn't really important as the CD cover says it's Hammill's composition.

[edit] Jason Pierce

Hi there,

I noticed that you edited Jason Pierce. Can you please take a look at it and clean it up a little? See its talk page for details. Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni 14:07, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Amir,
Thanks for the note - I cleaned up the article a little, removing some stuff that shouldn't have been there. But I don't really know enough about Pierce to add much more, I am afraid. If I can add any more, I will. --Richardrj talk email 10:24, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chronic

Heh - it's hip-hop/urban slang , I have heard many a Snoop Dogg/Eminem track using "chronic" as a slang term for weed :). If I can find/pinch/invent any other clues, I'll put them up there for you, heh.
