Ricky Nelson started wrestling in 1986 in the NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions as a glorified jobber, which means that he would get some offense in before being pinned.

He excelled in the independents and wrestled as a jobber in the World Wrestling Federation on occasion.

He is one of the bigger stars in the NWA Mid-Atlantic promotion today and he reprised the The Midnight Express tag team with Bobby Eaton in 2002 and 2003. He is also the promoter for the NWA Mid-Atlantic promotion.
