Rick Lewis (radio host)

Rick Lewis an American Radio Personality was born June 14, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan. Rick Lewis has enjoyed over 25 years in the radio business. Rick graduated with a degree in Radio/TV in 1981 from Long Beach State and quickly worked his way up the ladder of L.A. radio. Lewis had brief stops at KWVE/San Clemente, K-Best/San Diego, KEZY/Anaheim before landing a gig at The Mighty Met, KMET/Los Angeles. At that time KMET was the premier rock radio station in the country. Lewis held down the evening shift through the mid 80's until the plug was pulled on KMET and the format was changed to The Wave. Rick moved on to Power 106/Los Angeles and then back to KEZY/Anaheim holding down morning drive.

After getting fired in 1990, Lewis decided to look for employment opportunities outside of the L.A. market. At that time Lewis was paired up with stand-up comedian Michael Floorwax and the Lewis and Floorwax show was born on KRFX/Denver. Since 1990 Lewis and Floorwax, or The Masters as they are called, have had the #1 morning radio show in Denver and one of the top shows in the country. Their co-host Kathy Lee joined them in 1995 and also appeared in Playboy's issue of Women in Radio.

In 1997 Lewis and Floorwax formed a Blues band called, the Groove Hawgs. With Rick Lewis on drums and Michael Floorwax on vocals, the Groove Hawgs have developed into one of the most popular bands in the Rocky Mountain region. The Groove Hawgs have shared the stage with such notable bands as ZZ Top, The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, BB King, James Brown, The Allman Brothers, Def Leppard and many more. Every Summer Lewis and Floorwax promote a biker event called Hawgfest, usually held in the mountains outside Denver, Colorado. The two day event draws many thousands of bikers and music lovers from around the region. The festival attracted many notable performers over the years such as Ted Nugent, David Lee Roth, Buddy Guy and others. Lewis and Floorwax host the event and their band the Groove Hawgs entertains the crowds on both days of the event.

The Lewis and Floorwax Radio show has been syndicated throughout the region and has been carried on XM Satellite radio. The show continues to dominate the Denver morning radio ratings today. In 2004 the Lewis and Floorwax radio show was filmed by Comcast for a weekly television broadcast throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The wildly popular TV show has won several national TV awards.

Rick Lewis lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife Dionne and daughters, Jordan and Rionna. Rick enjoys travel, spends alot of time at his vacation homes in Scottsdale, Arizona and Puerto Penasco, Mexico. He rides and collects motorcycles, especially Harley's and BMW's, and also enjoys horseback riding.
