From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richmond Foods is best known as an ice cream manufacturer that holds the license to make a number of branded ice cream products and variations. The company currently owns the license to make a range of Nestlé ices having bought the division from the Swiss company. Along with a number of ice cream veriations of Nestlé chocolate bars (such as Toffee Crisp), the firm also produces a number of well known brands (such as FAB) that have been in production for over 20 years, and come from the time before Societe de Produits Nestlé SA's 1988 take over of British company Rowntree Mackintosh. Many of Nestlé's ice cream brands were formerly made by J. Lyons and Co. under the brand name Lyons Maid.

On May 5, 2006, Richmond announced that it was to be taken over by Oaktree Investments, an American Investment Company, who will unite Roncadin, the biggest German own brand label ice cream manufacturer, and Richmond, to make the largest ice cream manufacturer in Europe.
