Richilda

Charles the Bald had just been crowned king of Lorraine at the cathedral of St Stephen when he learned of the death of his wife, Queen Ermentrude (October 869). He then took a noble lady, Richilda, as his mistress. January 22, 870 Charles, in order to strengthen his position in Lorraine, married Richilda. She was from one of the most important families in Lorraine. Her brother was Boso of Provence.
