Richard Darnoll Anderson (born September 13, 1971 in Olney, Maryland) is a former American football running back who played 13 seasons in the NFL. Anderson played with the New York Jets from 1994-2002 and the Dallas Cowboys in 2003 and 2004. He was selected to play in the Pro Bowl in 2001.

[edit] NFL playing career

Anderson was originally drafted in the sixth-round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the New York Jets out of Penn State. While with the Nittany Lions, he had 1,756 rushing yards, 353 receiving yards, and 31 touchdowns. Anderson played high school football at Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring, Maryland.

Due to a herniated disc neck injury, he was released from the Cowboys on April 29, 2005. He officially retired after the 2005 season by signing a one-day contract with the New York Jets, the team that drafted him. [1]

On March 8th 2007, Richie Anderson was arrested by Phoenix Police and charged with trying to solicit an undercover cop for prostitution.[2]

[edit] Coaching career

After he retired, he joined the New York Jets coaching staff as an assistant wide receivers coach.[3]

After the 2006 season, Anderson joined the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff as a wide recievers coach. [4] However, he was fired before ever being present at a practice, after an arrest for soliciting a prostitute who turned out to be an undercover Phoenix police officer. [5]
