Richard Westbrook

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richard Westbrook is an auto racing driver notable for his success racing Porsche cars. He has won both the Porsche Supercup international championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup in his native Great Britain.

The Porsche Carrera Cup commenced in 2002, and Richard was immediately a front-runner. He won the 2004 title, and was runner-up in 2003 and 2005. His 2005 totals for victories and pole positions are both series records. Having done a few Supercup races in 2002, he returned in 2005, in rounds which did not clash with his UK commitments. He won the season opener in Bahrain and came 9th overall.

2006 was a big year however. He has finished every Supercup race on the podium, wrapping up the title with 2 races to go, against drivers such as Uwe Alzen, Alessandro Zampedri and Patrick Huisman. He has also done several Carrera races at home, alternating the car with Danny Watts. Both won races in the #2 car, but after a run of strong drives from Watts, Danny kept the ride to the end of the season, finishing 3rd overall.
