Richard Vanigli (born 1 June 1971) is an Italian footballer who currently plays in the Serie A league for Empoli F.C.. He is best known in Italy for having been the player who infamously tackled and injured Francesco Totti in a Serie A league match against A.S. Roma in 2006, causing him a broken fibula which Totti recovered from just in time for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, then won by the azzurri.
