Richard Turner (magician)

Richard Turner (b. 1954) is an American magician and poker player, referred to by Dai Vernon in 1987 as the most skillful card technician in the world, saying, "I doubt if anyone can equal him."[1] He has been featured on multiple television programs, and has a comedy routine with "Miss Guided", his longtime partner. An expert on card cheating, he has given talks at multiple international corporations and government agencies, as well as performing at the prestigious Magic Castle venue.

He was born in San Diego, California in 1954. After watching the TV show Maverick as a child, he decided he wanted to follow in the footsteps of James Garner's character, and become a world class card shark. However, he suffered a childhood disease which affected his retinas and caused blindness. He turned to martial arts, studying several different styles, and earning a Fifth Degree Black Belt in Karate. He also continued practicing with cards, and despite his visual impairment, developed a card show.
