Richard Thurmond Chatham

Richard Thurmond Chatham (1896-1957), who usually went by Thurmond Chatham, was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing North Carolina from 1949 to 1957. He was born in Elkin, North Carolina.

Notably, he did not sign the Southern Manifesto. Chatham subsequently lost the Democratic Party primary that year to Ralph James Scott.
