Richard Theodore Greener

Richard Theodore Greener (30 January 1844 – 2 May 1922) was the first African-American graduate of Harvard College and dean of the Howard University law school.

Greener attended preparatory school at Oberlin College from 1862 to 1864 and Phillips Academy from 1864 to 1865. In 1870, Greener graduated from Harvard with honors.

In 1898, Greener was appointed as the United States Commercial Agent in Vladivostok, Russia, a position he held until 1905.

His daughter was Belle da Costa Greene.
