Richard Skipper

Richard Skipper is an American stage actor, singer and tribute artist. Although he has created a vast array of characterizations; he is most noteworthy for his tribute to Carol Channing.

For more than a decade he has been paying tribute to Ms. Channing in a host of original shows which have been performed all over the country. Richard Skipper's work has been endorsed and supported by Carol Channing herself. Channing appeared with Skipper and the Gay Men's Chorus at the San Fransisco Palace of Fine Arts. Skipper also did a special performance for Carol Channing at The Regent.

Other career highlights have included appearances at Carnegie Hall, long running engagements at Trump's Taj Mahal and The Hilton Hotel in Atlantic City, engagements at Casino Windsor and The Windsor Hilton Hotel in Windsor, Ontario, The Friar's Club, The Russian Tea Room, Tavern on the Green, Le Cirque and an appearance on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien".

He was the featured performer recently for The Caring Project in NYC along with Dody Goodman, Rex Reed, Lee Roy Reams, and Steve Ross. Other celebrities he has shared the stage with include: Celeste Holm (York Theatre), Rue McClanahan, Claire Bloom, Donna McKechnie, Hayley Mills, Tony Roberts, and George Shearing. Richard Skipper often donates his time for benefit performances and fund-raisers including work for The Channing-Kullijian Arts Foundation and other charities.

Richard returns for one night only in his critically acclaimed and audience pleasing tribute to the Broadway legend, Carol Channing. This will be a benefit for Sylvia's Place/Shelter Book Campaign, an emergency night shelter for self identified Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, trans-gendered, trans-sexual and questioning youth from 16 to 23 years of age. Its primary focus is to provide a safe space, a good meal, bathroom facilities and toiletries, a cot for the night and breakfast in the morning. The Care Workers provide a listening ear, affirmation, and a friendly voice of encouragement. Benefit performance will feature the Paul Stephan Group. $25 cover, $15 food or drink minimum. Written, conceived, and produced by Richard Skipper and accompanied by THE PAUL STEPHAN GROUP. Richard Skipper has won two MAC AWARDS and a BACK STAGE BISTRO AWARD and is now nominated for the 2007 County Executive Awardin the category of Performing Artist in Rockland County, New York for his dead-on tribute to Carol Channing. This show has traveled to the stages of Carnegie Hall, Atlantic City, casinos in Canada, The Signature Theatre in Washington, DC, and the Plush Room in San Francisco to sold out engagements.
