Richard Prescott

Richard Prescott (1725-1788) was a British soldier, and a general during the American Revolutionary War. He was the only British General with the distinction of being captured twice by the Americans. During the invasion of Canada in 1775 he was captured after the fall of Montreal. After being exchanged, he was captured in July of 1777 with the garrison of Portsmouth, Rhode Island by Colonel William Barton.
