Richard Perks

Richard Perks is a Radio Presenter and Producer from Birmingham, England.
Richard began his first paid radio work at Beacon Radio at the age of 17 as a Technical Operator.
Richard graduated from Manchester University after studying Business Management with Media and interning at WHYI-FM (Y-100) in South Florida.
After presenting at Kix 96 in Coventry, Richard joined Galaxy 102.2 and produced "Radio Stars" winner of the CRCA award for Marketing Excellence in 2001. As well as producing imaging and promotional trailers for the station, Richard became a regular presenter on Galaxy during his four years at the station.
Richard came back to Beacon Radio in 2003 as Station Producer and within 12 months the station had received a nomination for the Station of the Year at the Sony Radio Awards.

His production of "Caught in the Crossfire" (a news documentary on gang violence) and "One Million Pounds of Work" (a campaign following the collapse of Rover) led to two awards at the 2005 Arqiva Awards for Programme of the Year and Social Action Initiative and an IRN award.
The latter was also been nominated for a 2006 Sony Radio Award whilst Bring a Bra to Work" (which raised money and awareness for Cancer Research) was nominated for a Community Award at the 2005 Sony Radio Awards.
Since starting at Beacon Radio, the station has gone on to be nominated for "Station of the Year" at the Arqiva Commerical Radio Awards in three consecutive years, winning the category in 2006.
Richard has produced imaging and production for the Galaxy Radio Network (Galaxy 101/102/102.2/105/105&106) and stations in the GCAP "One" network, including Merica FM, Wyvern FM, Gemini FM, Lantern FM and Severn Sound, and he produced "10 years of Late Night Love". He has also presented on Kix 96, Galaxy 102.2 and Beacon Radio.
