[edit] Career

Has contributed to TV shows such as The Glass House[1] and Rove Live. In 2006, he became the "panel guy/operator" and contributor on the Triple M radio program Get This, where he also supplies 'comments' and extended solos on his drum machine, affectionately called 'Charlene 5000' - a reference to a character in Full Metal Jacket who called his rifle 'Charlene'.

Previously, he was on Tough Love with Mick Molloy, in its first year (2004), and the SAFM breakfast show in Adelaide previous to that, where he was behind the popular character of Thorpey from Redwood Park. He also appeared regularly on Triple M's The Shebang with Marty Sheargold & Fifi Box, where he hosted a quiz segment known as "Dick's Box".

Marsland also co-hosted a live, daily morning programme AM Adelaide on Adelaide television with the multiple-Logie award winning Anne Wills, and hosted The Late Date Show with Bessie Bardot on 2DayFM. He also appeared as a record company executive in the 2006 Australian comedy film, Boytown.

He has also been a contributor of a weekly column for The Sunday Mail in Adelaide. He is also a regular guesthost[citation needed] of Triple J's Restoring the Balance.

[edit] Trivia

  • He has been known for his ability to perform the backing music to The Transformers Movie hit song "The Touch" by synth rock maestro Stan Bush, as well complete knowledge of the lyrics for the Transformers TV theme song. This has been demonstrated at various times on Get This.
  • Marsland is also a proud longtime Weird Al Yankovic fan, with Tony Martin revealing that he had brought in every CD of Weird Al's to sign when he was a guest co-host on Get This.
