Richard Edwards (governor 1746)

Richard Edwards (? – 1773) naval officer and Commodore Governor of Newfoundland, died England.
Edwards was a captain in the British navy and appointed governor of Newfoundland in 1746. In his naval career he was captain of several vessels: the Fox, the Torrington, the Princess Mary, and the Princess Amelia.

- 1746 ordered to Louisbourg to help Commodore Warren's siege of the fort,
- 1746 appointed governor of Newfoundland.
