Rich Boyz
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rich Boyz are five native New Orleans youngsters, who grew up on the hard-core streets of the uptown area -- “Third Ward Calliope Projects & The Magnolia Projects.” The group consists of five family members: Romeo, Young-V (Romeo’s younger brother), and their cousins C-Los, Lil-D and Big Doug.

[edit] Biography
They refused to be sucked into the drug infested, criminal ridden streets of New Orleans, and wanted to rise above the temptations of street life. While most kids were grabbing guns, these five youngsters wanted more out of life, so they decided to hit the studio and start creating music based on their life experiences growing up in the “Big Easy.” After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, most of the group members and their families were dismantled. Romeo came back for his cousins, putting together one of the most original hip-hop groups ever. Due to the loss of one of their cousins and group member, Fred Conner, this group is not only about the bling, the money and the materialistic things that most groups rap about. Their music is filled with allot more reality and maturity, because these boys had to turn into men fast. Already out on tour and overwhelmed by the fan frenzy, and loud screaming girls, these boys still maintain their street credibility.
With the already successful career of their group’s leader, Romeo (with his multi platinum solo albums and successful television show and movie career), the Rich Boyz are well on their way to the top of the charts. Under the guidance of hip-hop moguls Master P, C-Murder, and Silkk The Shocker, The Rich Boyz definitely have a promising future ahead of them.
The groups’ debut album, “Young Ballers (The Hood Been Good to Us),” which features the hit singles “Cutt,” “We Roll Big,” and “What’s Happenin’,” features fifteen hot tracks, with street savvy lyrics, yet G-rated. This all ages album was produced by platinum producers Drummer Boy, X File and Mike Diesel. The Rich Boyz are clearly ready to make their mark as the next generation of hip hop artists. These guys are not only about the music, but are out to show the world that young people can make changes in their life, sacrifice, make the right choices, run their own business and be young bosses. The Rich Boyz motto is: “If you like ice cream, you don’t have to keep going to “31 Flavors,” you can buy a Baskin Robbins. Age ain’t nuthin’ but a number.” The Rich Boyz are here to stay, because they’re all about business! Even though they may be successful now, these young bosses will never forget where they came from. “The streets made us, and the hood’s been good to us!” Say the Rich Boyz.
[edit] Members
- Romeo, - Romeo started his career at the tender age of eleven in the early 2000s, launching his debut solo album Lil' Romeo, which featured his first smash hit single, My Baby. But don’t think Romeo was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Before he was on his way to rap super stardom, he was born and raised in one of the worlds most notorious projects and struggled like most kids that lived in poverty. Due to his father (Master P) making a move to California (and getting a big break in his career), Romeo was able to see life on both sides of the fence. Once he got his break, this native New Orleanian’ quickly became a chart-topping force to be reckoned with, becoming the youngest solo artist with a number one song on the Billboard charts. Also with the success of his album, he was named Billboard “Rap Artist” of the year winning a “Billboard Artist Of The Year Award,” a “Teen Choice Award,” an “American Music Award” and a “Grammy Nominee.” This teen is definitely a number one lottery pick and he holds the key to the future of hip-hop. Even though Romeo was able to cross over with his television and movie career, he’s still able to maintain his street credibility. Romeo says, “Ain’t nuthin’ wrong with being yourself. My goal is to teach kids that you can come from the ghetto, make it out, get good grades in school and still be cool.”
- Young-V - Young-V is the youngest member of the Rich Boy clique. He is also the most exciting element of the team. His youthful style and catchy lyrics are sure to hook fans all across the world. Young-V has seen life on both sides of the road. He hung out with his Pops and his older brother in the “Calliope Projects,” and he also got a taste of the good life, living in mansions and rolling in fancy cars. V may be young, but he’s definitely got the game of an older person. The girls love him because he’s so smooth. Young-V says, “Age ain’t nuthin’ but a number.” Get ready hip-hop world, Young- V is sure to be the next in charge.
- C-Los - C-Los (aka Lil’ Uptown), grew up on the grimey streets of the Calliope Projects, where he learned that survival was just a way of life. “Age ain’t nothing but a number and nobodies life is promised,” says C-Los. Seeing relatives die at a young age, loosing friends to the streets and seeing his father get shot, C-Los says, “the rap game is like boys camp to me. I learned to make moves like chess while other boys were making moves like checkers. My whole life was about playing basketball, fighting or hanging with girls, until Master P. taught me how to be a young boss. I’m focused now. The key to my success is longevity. I don’t care who’s hot now, I’m the future!” C-Los’s unique energetic matrix, “hood-style flo,” definitely places him at the head of the class. If this were school, C-Los’s street savvy would definitely make him Valid Victorian of his class. Not even Hurricane Katrina could get rid of this Uptown native. Get ready hip-hop world, a star is born.
- Lil-D - Lil-D grew up in the “Magnolia Projects” in New Orleans and relocated to Houston Texas with his mother, taking Lil-D’s street credibility to another level. Lil-D says, “I eat, sleep and drink the dirty south. And if you can survive the streets of Louisiana and Texas as a youngster, then you’re ready for anything.” The hood nicknamed Lil-D as “Gutta Boy Of The South.” If Lil-D is not playing basketball, spitting rhymes in the studio or making movies, then he’s hanging with his fam, cause he says: “Nuthin’ is more important than family.” His street grimey unique rap style will definitely take him to the top of the game. Get ready hip-hop world, Lil-D is definitely the next young boss to look out for.
